Why you need a Hot Stoned Massage at Calabash Spa

A hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy. It’s used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. After the COVID -19 pandemic lockdown, any person can visit the Calabash Spa and Saloon along Wampewo Avenue Kololo to relax and ease those muscles that could have been damaged as a result of too much sitting as a result of the Stay Home Stay Safe lockdown. Hot massage stones are placed along one’s spine, stomach, chest, face, palms, feet and toes. A trained massage therapist holds heated stones as they massage one’s body using Swedish massage techniques like long strokes, circular movements, vibration, tapping and kneading.

Israeli Army warns of new war with Hezbollah: report

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:00 P.M.) – A number of officers in the northern command of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), warned that its troops would incur heavy losses in the event of a new war, pointing out that the Lebanese group is not digging tunnels anymore. A group of senior officers in the leadership of the northern command said in a press interview with Makan News Agency, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, that every site in southern Lebanon, whether military or civilian, would be used by Hezbollah to fire rockets into Israel. These officers stressed that “Hezbollah does not dig new tunnels after the destruction of those discovered on the border with Lebanon, as it understands the capabilities of the Israeli Army to discover any new tunnels.” Last Thursday, the Israeli Army revealed a plan “winds of the sky” to train its ground forces in war scenarios in the northern region on the Syrian and Lebanese fronts. Irish nurse turned MP calls for joined-up healthcare approach to pandemic

AN IRISH MP who returned to nursing to support the battle against Covid-19 believes health and social care must become “one united front” to overcome the virus. Maria Caulfield, the Conservative MP for Lewes, returned to the NHS in March as a cancer nurse treating patients with Covid-19 at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Brompton. She had answered the appeal by Health Secretary Matt Hancock for former doctors and nurses to help support medical efforts during the coronavirus outbreak. Ms Caulfield, who was born in Wandsworth, London in 1973, to parents who came to Britain in the 1950s from counties Longford and Cork, has seen first-hand the need for a ‘joined-up’ social welfare system that would see both care homes and hospitals working in tandem. She told The Irish Post: “When the coronavirus crisis first hit, it was clear the NHS was going to come under huge pressure. Advertisement “I wanted to do my bit to help out. I still had my nursing registration and so I returned to my old hospital working on the wards.…

COVID-19 patients treated with convalescent plasma

LOMA LINDA – (INT) - Loma Linda University Health is currently treating eligible patients battling severe novel coronavirus (COVID-19) with convalescent plasma in hopes of boosting their ability to fight the virus. The patients are treated while in the hospital through a transfusion of serum containing virus-neutralizing antibodies, which were removed from a recovered individual’s donated blood. Tait Stevens, MD, president of medical staff at Loma Linda University Medical Center, said some evidence shows that patients currently suffering from COVID-19 recover better if they receive plasma from those who have previously recovered. Stevens cited a study published in April that showed encouraging results from 10 severe adult cases who received the convalescent plasma, maintained or increased the antibodies and went on to recover. “This study showed promising results, and we want to do everything we can to continue this fight against COVID-19,” Stevens said. Rohith Mohan, MD, a second-year pediatric resident at Loma…

Portugal needs access for Brits soon in order accelerate economic recovery

Portugal is planning to offer an ‘air bridge’ for British tourists to bypass quarantine rules. This concept will be positively received by destinations in Portugal that are highly reliant on UK tourism such as the Algarve. In 2019, the UK was Portugal’s second largest source market after Spain, with 2.9 million UK visits. Ralph Hollister, Travel & Tourism Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “According to GlobalData’s pre-COVID-19 forecast, UK arrivals to Portugal were expected to grow at a year-on-year (YOY) increase of

Remembering my father...

It’s been seventeen years since my father passed away.  He was a skilled surgeon with a legion of patients. They all swore that he had a healing touch and long before key-hole surgery became popular, he performed small incision surgery that healed with an almost invisible scar. He had trained several young surgeons and treated rich and poor patients alike. A self-made man, he lost his father at age fifteen and worked his way up through college and medical school. His Australian-born Professor so loved him that he made sure my father set up his practice before he left India.

Chiral nanoparticles which twist the light were theoretically predicted to experience lateral forces perpendicular to light vector but lacks experimental verification. Now, scientists from Singapore, Italy, Spain and China demonstrate the first experimental sorting of chiral microparticles using optical lateral force induced by linearly polarized light. The force direction intriguingly depends on the polarization and incident angle of light, handedness of particles, etc. The technique will open new avenues for the detection and sorting of microparticles with imperceptible chemical differences

Handbuilt Rolls-Royce Cullinan 1:8 scale model shown

Rolls-Royce recently showcased a 1:8 scale replica of the Cullinan SUV. But in typical Roll-Royce opulence, this model has been entirely hand-built, using many of the same processes that go into the making of an actual Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Each Cullinan scale model is assembled by hand from over 1,000 individual components. This takes up to 450 hours, half as much time as a full-sized Cullinan SUV. The replica is hand-painted using Rolls-Royce colour-matched paint, then hand-polished to the brand's stringent specification. The coachline is applied using a fine brush, just as it is on the original. Buyers can choose from a palette of around 40,000 colours, or replicate any shade of their choosing. The fully-functioning exterior lights are operated by a Cullinan-branded remote control. A perfect recreation of the 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine sits under the bonnet. Similarly on the inside, the materials, finish and quality mimic that of any other Cullinan. Clients can recreate a full-size Cullinan right…

AN eight-year-old boy who returned into the country unaccompanied through Victoria Falls border last week has been quarantined in a hotel room. The boy entered the country unaccompanied on Friday from Livingstone in Zambia and could not join his mother who lives in Victoria Falls, in line with Covid-19 regulations that every returning citizen should be isolated for 21 days as part of preventive measures against the pandemic. He is one of the two people who are quarantined at Phezulu Lodge, a new facility identified by the Matabeleland North Covid-19 taskforce to cater for returning citizens who opt not to be accommodated at the conventional centre at Mosi-oa-Tunya High School when the majority are housed. At Phezulu lodge, the boy’s rentals are being paid for by his mother. The other returnee is an adult male also paying for himself.

ALMA Spots Twinkling Heart of Milky Way

Astronomers using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) found quasi-periodic flickers in millimeter-waves from the center of the Milky Way, Sagittarius (Sgr) A*.
